I was the Studio Feature Artist for the ‘Frida and Diego, Love and Revolution’ exhibition at the Art Gallery of South Australia.
The Studio is an interactive space for the public which encourages children and adults alike to engage creatively and respond to the work within the gallery.
I created an installation using papercuts and collages that responded to the Frida and Diego exhibition. The walls were painted bright colours and my papercuts were hung in perspex around the space. I filled large display tables with my collages and works on paper. I used a display case in the centre of the room to tell the story of Frida’s life in collage. Against the back wall I painted a mural of a tree of life from which I hung paper suns.
Over the course of the three month exhibition the public were encouraged to adorn the Studio with their own paper creations and soon birds, suns, flowers filled the entire room and mural. My papercuts were also used on a banner outside the gallery to advertise the Studio program and space.
